The TRIVEX System
What is Transilluminated Powered Phlebectomy?

Transilluminated powered phlebectomy is a patented, clinical proven and minimally-invasive surgical technique for varicose vein removal. “Transilluminated” refers to the passing of a thin light wand under the skin to visualize the veins, and “phlebectomy” is the medical term for vein removal. In this procedure, the surgeon removes the vein using a small powered surgical device while viewing the veins with the transilluminating light.

TRIVEX is oftentimes used in conjunction with thermal ablation of the saphenous vein. By combining these techniques the surgeon will both correct the source of the problem (faulty valves in the saphenous vein) and remove the resulting varicose veins.

Clinical studies suggest that the TRIVEX technique enables the surgeon to remove varicose veins using fewer incisions in shorter operative time, which may result in an easier recovery for the patient with good cosmetic results.

TRIVEX: A Simple Procedure

  1. Surgeon makes tiny 2-3mm incisions – as few as two per vein cluster.

  2. Light wand is inserted through one incision allowing surgeon to visualize the veins

  3. Resection device is inserted through the opposite incision to remove the vein.
